Home automation systems and HAN port
The first new smart electricity meters have already been installed and the installations will continue until 2031. The new electricity meters have a home automation connection as standard.
The latest, smarter electricity meters have a long-awaited feature: a home automation connection. This connection enables meter reading for the customer’s own use. This new feature can be utilised with the aid of service providers for various functions of a smart electricity system.
The HAN port (Home Area Network) is a connection that looks like a network socket. It is located on the lower edge of the so-called communications module of the new electricity meter. The HAN port must be activated before use. After activation, the port is ready for use, and devices for collecting metering data, for example, for use by a building automation system or an EV charging device, can be connected to it.
The current metering devices do not have a HAN port even if there is a “HAN lid” on the cover of the electricity meter.
HAN port can be activated in our Service Forms
If we have already replaced your electricity meter with a new one and you wish to activate the HAN port, you can submit the request through our Service forms service as from 1 May 2023.
If you do not have a new electricity meter with an HAN port yet, you can order the replacement of the electricity meter at a cost of € 192,20. You can place the order as from 1 May 2023 in our Service Forms. The replacement work will be charged with a separate invoice.
The covers of the new meters have a connector that looks like a network socket. Devices for collecting metering data every 10 seconds, for example, for use by a building automation system or an EV charging device, can be connected to it.
